First off, there is nothing wrong with enjoying traditional Halloween candy! Some of my personal favorites (back when I could eat gluten) were Kit Kats and Twix. Once I learned I had celiac disease and had to say goodbye to gluten, I started playing around with different combinations in hopes to make a treat that was similar to the traditional ones I loved. Whether you are gluten-free, looking for a lower sugar candy option, or just want to try something new ~ these halloween chocolate covered treats are perfect!
🕸️ Ingredients
- 1 cup almond flour
- ½ cup gluten-free pretzels (or regular, if you don’t need GF)
- ⅓ cup peanut butter
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup
- Melted chocolate (for lining and topping the molds)
🧙♀️ Directions
- Make the filling: In a medium bowl, combine almond flour, crushed pretzels, peanut butter, and maple syrup. Stir until everything is evenly mixed — the texture should be thick and slightly sticky. Set aside.
- Line the molds: Melt your favorite chocolate (dark, milk, or dairy-free all work great). Spoon a little into each cube mold, coating the bottom and sides evenly.
- Freeze: Pop the mold into the freezer for about 10–15 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
- Fill: Once the chocolate is set, add a spoonful of the peanut butter mixture into each cube.
- Top and freeze again: Cover the filling with more melted chocolate and return to the freezer until firm.
- Enjoy: Once fully set, pop them out of the molds and store in the fridge for a perfectly chilled treat.
